Bost’s Fausta, a tragicomedy written in 1963, employs a unique mix of purist and demotic language, syntactical anarchy, and surrealism to critique Greek society. For the scenic design, I drew inspiration from folk art, traditional costumes, and Greek naïve painting, particularly the work of Maria Pop.
The play premiered on a rooftop in Athens, leveraging the natural patina and urban setting to enhance the scenery. Key elements included bits, children's activity cubes, and folk motifs adapted for the stage. When the play transitioned to an indoor venue, I reimagined the scenic installation to suit the industrial aesthetic, collaborating with artist Eleni Papadaki on the scenic painting.
