Introduction
For this adaptation of Federico Fellini’s La Strada, I designed a symbolic and transformative stage that paid homage to the aesthetics of the old Italian circus.
Result
The performance unfolded in two visual phases: an initial circus-themed setup featuring a red carpet-like floor, yellow stars, and a royal blue velvet curtain, followed by a stark, lunar-like world that emerged after the dismantling of the initial stage elements.
The minimalist approach relied on actors’ movements and props to create evolving spatial conditions. A custom-designed PVC ribbon projection screen added dynamic visual layers, enhancing the cinematic aspects of the adaptation.
